	Buddy’s Chair - Prototype 02
	Prototype 02 increases the thickness of the front legs and support braces, and includes adjustable hardwood feet and stiffening components. Some elements are painted to highlight the different flat patterns used across the chair. Location slots used to laminate the components but not required in its final state are plugged, sanded smooth and painted.

	Lamp 8 - CNC Engraved + Trimmed
	Alongside engraving, this test introduces CNC trimming of the perimeter and internal windows. Deviations between the digital simulation and physical shell are revealed by the irregular depths of the engraved lines, translucency of certain areas, and sections that are untouched by the steep and shallow toolpaths.

	Lamp 7 - CNC Engraved
	The shells are laminated individually in a two part mould. Before the two halves are glued together, they are CNC engraved, using the positive mould as a jig. The toolpathing is done from the original digital simulation, rather than a scan of the actual laminated shell. This introduces unpredictability into the process - although the grooves are a constant depth in the toolpath, some areas are engraved significantly deeper than others as a result of springback, machining tolerances, innacuracy in mounting the shells and so on. The light further highlights these differences, making the thinnest moments visible on the outside face.

Two Part Mold Seam Study Lamp


	This study uses the same geometry as the vacuum bag tests, but is fabricated using a two part mold. 3D scanned analysis of the lamps highlights how much more detail is achieved through this fabrication strategy.

	Seam Study Lamps
	Originally made to test overlapping and continous seams for a chair, these test pieces are now enjoying a second life as lamps. The lamps explore a range of timber species, veneer thickness and adhesive type, and were all fabricated using a positive mold and vacuum bag.
